Reliance announced at IMC the launch of the new KaiOS mobile operating system powered phone, the Jio Phone Prima 4G, confirming KaiOS growing presence in the Indian market. The Jio Phone Prima 4G is a 4G lite phone offered by Reliance Retail Limited, which would be available for purchase during the Diwali season. This latest Jio Phone comes with social media applications such as WhatsApp and YouTube along with popular OTT apps like Jio Cinema .
Jio Phone Prima 4G has with a 2.4-inch TFT display and a resolution of 320×240 pixels, along with a 0.3MP front facing camera. It also gets a 0.3MP rear camera with flash. The JioPhone Prima 4G supports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and FM radio. It has an 1800m Ah battery which will keep the phone charged for a long time.
Following the previous successful launches in India and more than 150 countries across the globe, this launch makes KaiOS more accessible to the millions of 2G users in India.
KaiOS combines the powerful capabilities of a smartphone with the affordability of a basic handset. The preloaded Kai Store is based on HTML5 making top-of-the-line features such as games, messaging, streaming apps, and social media available for everyone. The mobile operating system supports 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, and is compatible with chipsets from major manufacturers. Even with this suite of advanced features, KaiOS-powered phones use limited memory and energy, thus allowing it to power affordable devices with a longer battery life than most smartphones.
