Barcelona, <26 February 2018> ― Twitter, Inc. (NYSE: TWTR), the best place to see and talk about what’s happening in the world, and KaiOS Technologies, maker of the emerging mobile operating system KaiOS, today announced an official partnership to bring Twitter to affordable feature phones.
This partnership adds a whole new group of people to Twitter and marks another significant step toward closing the digital divide. Just as many people use KaiOS-powered devices to access the internet and email for the first time, Twitter will play a key role in helping users communicate and engage with their families, favorite brands, and the online community at large.
“Twitter becoming available on KaiOS demonstrates our commitment to bringing the world’s most popular apps to our platform,” said Sebastien Codeville, CEO of KaiOS Technologies. “With every passing year, the importance of the Twitter platform to journalism, politics, and many other aspects of global culture becomes more obvious. We’re extremely excited that tens of millions of new users can now take part in this unfolding global revolution by bringing Twitter to the KaiOS platform.”
KaiOS powers lite phones that use limited memory while still offering a rich user experience. It is one of only a handful of mobile operating systems capable of supporting popular third-party apps; more significantly, it’s the only OS to natively support these apps on feature phones.
